Safeguarding and Welfare

At Bright Sparks Day Nursery, we provide the basic platform to ensure children are given the support to respect themselves and others, stand up for themselves and protect each other.

In line with caring for some of the most vulnerable and impressionable members of society, we ensure we follow all requirements outlined in The Early Years Foundation Stage accordingly and uphold our duties to keep children safe and promote their welfare.

We take action to protect children from harm and are alert to harmful behaviours by significant others in a child’s life. As a setting we focus on children’s personal, social and emotional development through the Early Years Foundation Stage framework through age-appropriate ways, such as ensuring children learn right from wrong and challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes.

The nursery is aware that abuse does occur in our society, and we are vigilant in identifying signs of abuse and reporting concerns. Our practitioners have a duty to protect and promote the welfare of children.

Our prime responsibility is the welfare and well-being of each child in our care. As such we believe we have a duty to the children, parents and staff to act quickly and responsibly in any instance that may come to our attention. This includes sharing information with any relevant agencies such as local authority services for children’s social care, health professionals or the police. All staff will work with other agencies including as part of a multi-agency team, where needed, in the best interests of the child.
